WELCOME TO THE DEPARTMENT OF PAEDIATRICS



INTRODUCTION

Pediatric department in NSC GMC Khandwa was established on april 2018. The vision of the department is to provide evidence based advanced treatment services to neonates and children attending Pediatric department of NSC GMC Khandwa. Department of Pediatrics has three full time faculties and six residents. We are running Pediatric OPD from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm, 24 hours emergency & inpatient care facility for dedicated Pediatric & Neonatal Intensive Care Units. Department runs nutritional rehabilitation centre and subspecialty clinics such as Thalassemia day care centre, hematology clinic, high risk clinic and immunization clinic. The Department plans to establish subspecialty clinics like Pediatric endocrinology, Pediatric nephrology, hypertension clinic, Pediatric neurology, Pediatric cardiology & asthma clinic after handover of department in new building. We have 50 bedded ward and 20 bedded NRC. The 7 bedded PICU was established on April 2020 & well equipped with central oxygen, central suction, ventilators, CPAP, high flow device etc. Our department has dedicated Special Care Newborn Unit 20 bedded (SCNU) staffed by round the clock Pediatricians and nursing staff. The department has successfully managed children with Covid 19 and is prepared for further wave of pandemic also and for that we have 10 bedded COVID PICU & 10 bedded COVID NICU at B block of hospital which was inaugurated by honourable Chief Minister of our state on 30th August 2021. Faculties and senior residents of the department are actively involved in undergraduate teaching & various academic and research activities. Teaching and training to medical and nursing undergraduates are also conducted regularly by Pediatric department. Faculties and senior residents of the department conduct awareness programmes to celebrate various national days/ weeks such as ORS week, breastfeeding week, Thallesemia day, complementary feeding day etc. Department is also regularly organizing training workshops (NRP,BLS) for all cadres of health care personnel ; faculties, nursing staff, students and other health care providers
